DirtyLAWndry reader, “Samantha,” is feeling a little offended by the treatment she’s received at Pepper Hamilton.

“Hey Dirty! I’m a temp worker at Pepper. As a temp attorney, I expected to receive the typical “I’m-better-than-you” treatment from Pepper attorneys that I received at other large firms. But, so far, the Pepper attorneys and partners have treated me just like I’m one of them. But, there’s this annoying legal secretary here that refuses to “play nice.” Our cubicles are next to each other, which thankfully is only temporary. There isn’t a phone in my cubicle yet so I have to use her phone. Everything was fine at first. She was very pleasant towards me and asked me about my family and plans. She made sure that I had everything I needed and that I knew where everything was located. However, once she found out that I was a temp worker, everything went downhill. I had to make a phone call and after I hung up the phone, she started complaining that now she couldn’t use the phone because of the “germs.” I thought she was kidding around until she left the cubicle in a huff and returned with a spray bottle and started wiping down everything that I had previously touched. This isn’t even the first phone call that I made for the day on that phone in her presence. I can only assume that she’s prejudiced against temp workers or crazy.”
